Hello,
I am seeking some guidance. I send a request for a PPI refund yet American Express claims they don't have to honour it because I requested PPI as a safeguard rather than they imposing it upon me. However, as the original PPI court case proved PPI was "unfit for purpose," or something along those lines, can I still claim via the Ombudsman?

So, it wasnt mis-sold then.

However, as the original PPI court case proved PPI was "unfit for purpose," or something along those lines, can I still claim via the Ombudsman?

There was no such court case and PPI is still retailed today. The issue wasnt over the product. It was over the sale of the product. You have verified it wasnt sold to you but bought.
