So basically I got a Blinds company out to measure my windows for a quote for new blinds.
On arrival he walked into my living room cream carpet without taking his shoes off and cause 4 or 5 muddy footprints. He looked embarrassed and did take his shoes off straight away. While I was getting the carpet cleaner out he went into my dining room to to measure my patio door , he was quite a large guy and would have had to manoover around the finding room table and while doing so has scraped my wall with (I'm assuming) the zip of his jacket because the damage is hip height. I did not see him do it but I left as he was leaving and didn't return home until dinner time and when I put my dining room light on I saw the damage straight away. It was 100% not there this morning. So I know it could have only been him. I phoned the company straight away and a receptionist got him to call me. First of all he said he wasn't near the wall, when I explained he was he then said well I would have known if I scraped it! He asked to come out to see it but I said that would only happen if he was brining the owner.
I said I was phoning the owner In the morning and would be taking it further.
So this morning I called and spoke to owner, he was quite rude, said I was assuming that had happened etc. He said he would speak to sales rep and call back which he didn't this afternoon. He is coming out on Tuesday night to asses the damage
Do I even have a leg to stand on?
We have just moved in and my dining room was only redecorated a month ago so I'm gutted. I have a picture of it a week ago showing no damage but don't even know if that will be much use.
I have tried to attach pictures but can't to show damage including the carpet but I'm not bothered about that because it's cleaned and all the mud stains came out, it's the wallpaper I'm perusing.
Hoping someone can help?

I don't think you'll get very far unless you can prove negligenceChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
-
And how would I prove that? Basically I would have had to see him do it at the time? Thanks0

You don't have to prove negligence, you have to prove he caused the damage, negligent or not. So if he denies it, it's your word against his should you choose the small claims route.
What is the cost of the repair? Wallpaper can usually be patched almost invisibly unless it's something exotic. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I spoke to my decorator today and he said he would try to take the one sheet off to replace but realistsically he said it would need to be the full wall that's redone.
Anyone know an easy way to post the pictures on here? Thanks0 -

I find that very hard to believe, sorry.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

This is a painter and decorator that I've knowen for like 5 years and he has done all mine and all my family's stuff. If he could do it as one strip I think he would and that's what I would push for as the last thing I want if for it all to be stripped and redone.0

If the strips of wallpaper either side of the damaged portion get ruined when removing it, then it may well be easier just to do the whole wall.0

Yeah that's what he said on the phone.
So I'm not sure what the owner of the company will do when he comes to my house, I sent in the pictures and he wants to looks at it in person, which is fine. But not really sure what difference that will make?0
