    lol, what a massive help

It's against the forum rules for the brokers who post on MSE to give out more information. Besides, if you want a mortgage broker to spend time finding you a mortgage they should be remunerated for it.
  • does someone want to offer their services, or just use this to post unhelpful, cryptic answers?

Which part of, "it's against the forum rules," are you not following simon2513? You can choose to approach one of the brokers who post on the forum by sending them a PM but they cannot tout for business.
  • I'm sure people will be queuing up to offer help after the way you've spoken on here.......

    Good luck with that.

As a broker, if you follow the code of conduct on here, you don't tout for business. If someone wants to send you a PM asking you to act for them, that's fine.

We also have to follow our regulator's guidelines on use of social media and not appear to be giving advice without first being able to satisfy the "know your customer" rules.

If that makes me a !!!! I guess I'll just have to live with that.

Kings, I know you and the other MA on here don't tout for business but your post could be seen as a veiled tout. I just had this picture in my head of you "winking" as you wrote it.........:rotfl::D

I would like to expand Simon buts the forums lays certain rules on we Proessionals so that we cannot use the site as a form of advertising.

    Theses rules mean:

We cannot ask you to contact us.
We cannot post our contact details.
We cannot put up links to our websites.

The rules are sensible or else it would be like the Wild West on here.

Finally, if we said to you 'go to ABC mortgages' that is 'advice' which the FCA say we cannot provide without knowing your circumstances in full.

Therefore you will see myself, Kingstreet, Betmunch, Dave Ham, ACG, Mortgage Mark, and others, prompting and nudging you and providing generic tips on only.

On another thread you will see one of our number suggesting to a poster that they should contact another. That is allowed. Neither are we breaking the rule if a forum member decides to contact us off of the public forum.

I would like to nominate KS as the least 'touty' broker on here.

Would borrowers may find interesting is that our main reason for contributing on here is not acquiring business. There are much more efficient ways to do that.

What I find is that questions that come up help me to understand the market, where my own knowledge can be improved, and what borrowers are thinking and worrying about.

Many of the articles I have written on our own website reflect topics that come up on here.

Of course I like to think I have helped some people along the way.

Many of you may also have noticed I constantly promote the benefits of using a broker and probably enjoy taking on the armchair experts a little too much.

  • This is a ridiculous thread bar the sensible comments.

Simon - just read this calmly after a sleep.
