Virgin Media Renewals NI

  • BB only is stupidly expensive. It would only cost a couple of pounds more per month to get the landline and TV as well.

If you can afford it, paying up front for the phone (£120 per year) would bring the price down even further. I say that without actually having done so myself *ahem* but intend to call them shortly to arrange this.

Current basic deal on the site is Basic TV with Tivo box, 50Mb BB and free weekend calls for £38.99pm on an 18 month contract.
The first 9 months cost is reduced to £29.98. If you were to pay the phone up front, then this should work out at around £29.50pm over the 18mth contract.

Even if you don't go for that, it would still be worth phoning them. They will not be able to dicount the BB only product that you have, but as you can see it might actually be worth taking on a bigger package. When the 18 months is up you just begin the renegotiation again. There is a retention deals thread on the phones forum here which has lots of tips on how to deal with Virgin.

If you are going to call, the sales freephone number is 0800 0643840.

They can discount Broadband only, as I have been on just that deal for at least 3 years now and the current offering was fixed for two years at about 40% off

Glad to hear someone is getting value from them marcowil, but you are definitely in the minority. What sort of discount (see, I spelt it corrected that time!) are you getting? i.e. 40% off what price for what speed?

Just to add to this. I have TV M and I have a new smart tv with free view. I get far more channels on free view than virgin. The only reason I stay with them is bb and my tivo box. Don't know of any alternatives
