Virgin Media Renewals NI

Hi All,
I'm just coming up to the year mark with Virgin Media and on a whole they have been good, however I'm sure my contract will transfer to a more expensive one when I hit the year mark.
Can anyone advise the best way to renew with them? I originally setup the contract via a Sale's Agent, however I assume he does not oversee the renewals.

We've had Virgin for several years, no mention of renewals, it just carries on. There have been a couple of price rises, but it's still the best ever service!0

Same with me, just carries unless you change something then you are classed as a new contract.
If you are on a special introductory offer for the first 12 months, then you need to contact them and haggle a deal. Look in the TV section of the board they have a long running thread and tips.0 -
I doubt they will contact you, your bill will probably rise to whatever the current retail price is for your package (I assume you had a 12 month offer with a lower price)
I'm currently paying £50 mnth for Broadband, TV and phone but after a year I'll jump to about £67, I'm on an 18mnth contract so after that I can probably re-negotiate.0 -

I've been with them for about 10 years now, and every time the contract expires I ring for a better deal. If you really want a good deal, then be armed with what else is available on the market as they will ask if you have had an offer from someone else. The Uswitch website generally has a list of the current offers from Sky, Talk Talk etc.
I just tell them it's too expensive, and they come up with a deal that suits me. Currently on a 40% discount for the same package I had last year. Not the biggest package by any means, but has BB, TV (2 boxes) and phone for £31pm.
I have an android box for 'extras'.
Always worth the price of a free phone call0 -

That's a much better deal than I am currently on. I have just unlimited broadband for £30 per month and that is it.
What is the best number to call and is it free?0 -
Call 150 and press whatever number is "thinking of leaving "
I've found that customer services don't give as good a deal as the staff who deal with people leaving.I was on TiVo box,2ordinary box,and xl package for TV with xl internet package(highest speed) and free calls every evening ( 60 mins)was paying £72 a month and ordinary staff said it was the cheapest they could do.Dept who deal with people thinking of leaving managed to get it down to £53.50.The call is free from a virgin landline.Good luck Miria
Ps I've also renegotiated mid contract0 -
BB only is stupidly expensive. It would only cost a couple of pounds more per month to get the landline and TV as well.
If you can afford it, paying up front for the phone (£120 per year) would bring the price down even further. I say that without actually having done so myself *ahem* but intend to call them shortly to arrange this.
Current basic deal on the site is Basic TV with Tivo box, 50Mb BB and free weekend calls for £38.99pm on an 18 month contract.
The first 9 months cost is reduced to £29.98. If you were to pay the phone up front, then this should work out at around £29.50pm over the 18mth contract.
Even if you don't go for that, it would still be worth phoning them. They will not be able to dicount the BB only product that you have, but as you can see it might actually be worth taking on a bigger package. When the 18 months is up you just begin the renegotiation again. There is a retention deals thread on the phones forum here which has lots of tips on how to deal with Virgin.
If you are going to call, the sales freephone number is 0800 0643840.0 -
Good feedback as usual, I may give them a call.
Is Virgin TV any good?0 -
Honestly that basic package is much like freeview with a few extras and some HD channels. Don't expect too much from it, but at least you can access catchup TV from all the main players, and the Tivo box lets you record enough shows to last you a week or so non-stop.
