    Here's a method for you to try out :wall:,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, if it crumbles after say 20 -30 good hits its lime :wave:

    Ahh I see ,you are obviously referring to codified guidance on lime mortars.
    As we are passing on useful tips, here's a method for you to try out - find out when the wall was built and if it was after the mid 1930s it's quite likely that Portland Cement was used and not hydraulic lime.
