Renewal Quote - Unsettled Claim
Good Morning All,
First post here but just after a little advise,
My brother way involved in accident back in April where a taxi had under-took him and clipped the alloy wheel of my car (he was a name driver on the policy) long story short we contacted the taxi company after getting all the drivers details and tried to resolve this, this was a nightmare no one getting in touch etc, so in the end due to the insignificant amount of damage to my car we left it as it was and forgot about it due to both of us leading pretty busy life's and have no time to chance something like that.
Come end of July I get a phone call saying someone had put a claim in against me, confused and they wouldn't provide details I was unaware of been involved in any crash, (brother at this point insured on own car and no longer on my policy but with same company), he then gets a phone call the taxi company was blaming him for the accident and said he was changing lanes (there was no other lane he was pulling into a parking spot on the side of the high street).
Anyways evidence all given claims still on going (aware that at present I have to put a fault claim on my insurance and lost my no claims at present).
Now my renewal has come up and they still haven't settled the claim, at present there is no costs involved, on any compare site it asks for the cost of accident and if it was settles current this is nil like mention so do I put nil on this form and say it is unsettled.
My insurance company is pretty sure after looking at the evidence that this will be in my favour but they still need to wait for the taxi companies insurance to fire back at them, on a whole I will not actually be claiming any repairs so if they lose I haven't actually made a claim so would I have to say I had a claim?
Thanks and Kind Regards
Glenn

Yes, put it down as unsettled claim/accident on the comparason sites "at fault" with nil costs, or stick with your current insurer until next year....unless you are collecting Meerkats. You could always call up the company concerned before paying for the insurance just to be sure. Once its settled call them up and update your policy information.
I have a spare Sergie if it helps you out

Thanks for the Reply, my current insurances renewal was huge so I'm looking else where currently cost are still in the unhappy area but I can deal with it until it is all sorted out.
£2800 renewal price compared to the £1400 original if I didn't have this happening my renewals were going to be around the £600 mark which was brilliant compare sites showing £1200 with the claim at present.
Thanks again0 -
Also, once the claim is resolved and if it comes out in your favour with 100% liability to the other party, then in theory you should be entitled to a refund on this renewal for that difference between in price of with & without a 'fault' claim.
You might need to badger the insurers a bit to get this mind. That said, when in a similar situation, I was refunded the extra £50 premium increase due to a prior unresolved claim pretty soon after it was resolved. That said, I didn't change insurers on renewal.0
