I never applied to American Express for a card and got a letter saying my application was unsuccessful, is anyone knowledgeable about this sort of thing?

I would obtain credit reports from the CRAs in order to see if any accounts have been opened in your name elsewhere.
Also, sadly, consider if you have any friends/family at your address who could be up to something.
You could do a FOI request on Amex, asking them for copies of any applications made. It might be interesting to see what they have. A phone number might give something away - if it turns out to be that of someone you know.0 -

I assume that you meant to write "subject access request".

An "FOI request" is for getting information from government and certain other public bodies.0 -

Oh yes of course! Thanks.0 -
American Express are quite knowledgeable about it. Why not ring them and ask? If you don't get a satisfactory answer then maybe try the SAR route.I never applied to American Express for a card and got a letter saying my application was unsuccessful, is anyone knowledgeable about this sort of thing?loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0
