Pro's and cons of offering a long fixed term?

Lots to think about, but looks like the long fixed term is probably not the best way forward for either me or the tenant. Think I'll have a sit down with them and explain my situation and then offer them a standard 6 month AST on the understanding that as long as they pay the rent on time and don't cause a nuisance that they can stay long term. It'll be interesting to see how long term they are thinking about.0

Do not offer a 3 year fixed term.
If they decide to leave after a year, do you really think you are going to get 2 years of rent payments from them?
If they want security of tenure, they can buy their own property.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0
