Buying Dollars for next years holiday

Can I have some advice on holiday currency please?
We are planning to go to the states next year & my wife thinks that it is a good idea to buy dollars now as the currency rate is pretty good. I'm not so sure, particularly as I can't see a way of gaining any interest on the dollars purchased.
If anyone has anyone any thoughts on this matter we'd be very pleased to have them - thanks very much.

as has been said before if anyone can accurately predict what a currency exchange will be in the future you will be working in the city getting paid millions a year.

As hammy has said, if you can predict which way it will go, you are ahead of the pack and could end up very rich indeed.
However, if you just want and would be happy to commit to the best rate available at the moment, then I would commit to http://www.crowncurrencyexchange.com/ rate of up to $2.0261 (for Sept 2008)
Remember, this is a non refundable one way ticket. Your money is committed no matter what way the rates go0
