SDP confusion

Hi, I am rather confused about this Severe Disability Premium.
I've researched it and have found contradicting information. One search led me to believe that the SDP is not necessarily extra money added on but just increases your applicable amount where as another search led me to believe otherwise.
Additionally I live with my mother which should disqualify me from being eligible for SDP but she gets PIP so maybe (?) Not.
And may I enquire as to the rates of SDP as of 2015-2016 ?
In conclusion, is SDP extra payments?, what are the rates? And am i eligible?
This is my first post ever so please look upon me kindly .
Thanks !

You need to say which benefits you're on if any and at what rates and your mother's PIP rate.
For sdp you don't have to live alone as long as all of you have the qualifying pip, AA, or DLA rate and in addition no one gets carers allowance for you yourself.
Sdp is in addition to your benefits and it's hard to give amounts without relevant information from you.Master Apothecary Faranell replied, “I assure you, overseer, the Royal Apothecary Society dearly wishes to make up for the tragic misguidance which ended so many lives. Thanks for replying !
I'm currently on income related support group of ESA and I only get standard rate daily living of pip, no one gets carers allowance for me. My mother also gets standard rate daily living pip. I'm single, not part of a couple.0 -
do any other adults live in the household ?0

No, just my mother and I.0

then you should apply for the SDP.
if your mother receives means tested benefit, she would also be entitled to the SDP0 -
Oh I never thought of her applying ! But wouldn't she need to be getting ESA to qualify for SDP.....? May I ask if housing benefit counts as means tested ?0
-
no, housing benefit isn't counted.
income support, income related JSA, income related ESA and pension credit are the qualifying benefits. ( alongside the PIP/DLA award)0 -
I see, thank you so much for the quick replies and helpful answers !!!0
