Hi Moneysavers
Hope some one can help.
What are the airport taxis like from Newark, NY to the port? Is it best to prebook, any idea of cost and how long does it take?
Thanks for reading this.

Hello pjran - you should take a look at the following guide which covers just this subject in great detail

New York - Travelling in and Around Manhattanmarkymoo wrote:Newark
Newark isn't actually in New York. It is in New Jersey. But it is so close to Manhattan it is a good airport to fly into.
Taxi - Taxi's cost between $35 - $55 plus tolls (around $8) and tips (15%) and can take anything between 20 minutes up to an hour. Works the same way really at the airport, get a taxi from the dispatcher, and sit back and enjoy.
I know this is a guide how to get TO New York, but bear in mind that a NYC Taxi will charge you the meter fare plus $10 when going to Newark, because it is "out of state". Maybe a car service will be better?!
Public Transport - AirTrain again, this time it takes you to Penn Station (not Penn Station in NYC though) in Newark, NJ. It takes 20 minutes, and costs $4, and you must have exact change. Then from Penn Station, NJ, you take PATH trains into Manhattan. These trains go into Manhattan and up 6th Avenue, stopping at Christopher Street, West 9th Street, West 14th Street, W23rd, W33rd. It only costs $2.
Bus - there is a bus service, but it costs more than the AirTrain and PATH. Weird huh? But it might be useful. I've never used it, and it is notoriously slow.
