I have an epson printer and have some out of date ink cartridges - still shrunk wrapped but well out of date, should I try them or bin them?

Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:

Providing you haven't left them in the sun or next to the fire or anywhere else where the ink can dry, they should be okay.
Most compatible cartridges if you shake them you can hear the ink sloshing around. If you can hear this they should be okay. The genuine ones don't "slosh".0
