Damage to car on employees car park

Just to point out. I wasn't stupid, the pipe is not in clear view or I would have seen it and wouldn't have hit it... I'm not looking at claiming any compensation........ I just want the damage to my car repaired! Simple as that. Ive been driving over 25 years with no incident, so please don't call me stupid. I was merely after some advice as to where I stand to the damage to my car.0

A foot tall pipe in front of your car was "not in your line of sight"? I think a photo may be beneficial here, because I'm struggling a bit.0
-
Did you ask why no-one has marked off the space in some way, like sticking a cone on it or putting a barrier over the entrance?0
-
Yes I did, but was met with a vague response... Maybe we can put a bit of hazard tape round it... It needs some fencing putting in front of it to stop it happening again.
I can understand where you're coming from AdrianC it's extremely difficult to explain in words, yes a picture would be beneficial, but I'm not about to start putting pictures on here... You'll understand the reasons why I hope.
I don't want to start demanding and such at work, we have a great work balance where we all get on really well, but on this occasion I feel a bit let down. If nothing else comes from this in my opinion is that they make it more visible..0 -
That's what I'm struggling with, Adrian.
That along with moving a car onto a piece of ground that you haven't actually checked to be clear before doing so. "It must be clear, it's a parking space" is a pretty big assumption to make with a ton + of metal!0 -

Honestly? No.
You can photoshop out anything that'd identify the company easily enough.
You say this pipe is at the outside end of the bay? With your car lined up to pull into the space, we're talking about a space about 2m wide by 4-5m long directly in front of you. You should be able to easily see the tarmac for a good proportion of the length, so anything a foot tall at the far end would be obvious.
What if it hadn't been a fixed pipe - say, one of your colleagues had left their laptop bag on the ground next to their car?0 -
A lot of car parks (at retail parks and supermarkets) now have bollards at the back of the spaces, at a height that's often impossible to see and A LOT of people hit them. I don't see how this is any different.........“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Supermarket bollards are around 3ft in height and as I've said in my original post this was approx 1ft high, bit of a difference don't you think??0
-
...yet still people hit them...Diamond_lover wrote: »Supermarket bollards are around 3ft in height0 -
The height really doesn't matter though.
You're driving a car.
You want to put it in a particular place.
You look at that place to make sure there's no obstruction.
If there's no obstruction, you put it in that place.
If there is an obstruction, you don't.
It really is that simple.
A foot high obstruction at the end of a (say) 5 metre parking space is approximately 4 times higher than the number plate letters you need to read for your test, and at about 1/4 of the distance. So there's really no excuse for not being able to see it!0
