Waterproof / Anti-Damp Paint

Options
Due to a damp problem on the external walls of the house, I've been advised to strip the wallpaper off to the palster level, and paint some "special" paint directly onto the plaster.
Once dry, I'm told I can re-paper, and paint, to give me 3-4 years without the damp.

(The house is solid btick, letting penetrative damp through. Am sure it's not condensation due to a number of measures taken over the past 12 months).

I've been recomended ( by a friends friend, who's a decorator) something called Dulux malaseal / melaseal, which apparantly you can't buy in the shops, and have to get Dulux stockists to order it for you. Neither Google, nor the staff in B & Q seem to have heard of this.

Does anyone have any more information on this Dulux malaseal / melaseal?

Anyone know where I can get it / how much it costs?

Can anyone recomend any alternatives (I noticed Ronseal do an anti-damp one coat paint too), or comment on anything they've tried?

All advice truly is appreciated. I'd really like to get rid of this damp :)

Sorry I don't know anything about the paint but I have solid brick walls & found some damp we had was due to faulty pointing. Have you checked that out? I'm always a bit nervous of things that just stop the water coming through, I'd rather it didn't want to come through in the first place! I think if you have water coming through behind the plaster the plaster will just blow eventually whatever is on it.

    Waterproof/Antidamp paint.

Weve got an old stone house and have some damp problems, so we bought some waterproof paint, cleaned off the bubbled plaster, refilled the holes and painted over the area.
This seemed to clear it but it came back after about 18 months, so we did it again over a slightly larger area.
Again, it lasted about 18 months but has now re-appeared, but not at the same spot. It has moved from beside the window to below the windowsill.
My guess is that this sort of treatment stops the damp coming through but doesnt solve the basic damp problem. When the damp cant get through in one spot , it spreads outwards and downwards until it finds a place where it can get out and off we go again.
Short term it is worth doing but ,at the end of the day, you will have to solve the damp problem and that usually means getting the experts in.

(I'm still in denial but its getting worse and I'm starting run out of ideas)

Hope somebody can come up with something more helpful.
Life in the old dog yet? :hello:
