Siemens oven - temperature keeps resetting - likelihood of repair?

Siemens oven with a digital temperature display, looks like this:
http://www.siemens-home.co.uk/sparepart/finder/detail/HB760580B/01
You turn the oven on, then turn a dial to set the temperature. When you switch on, the temperature displayed is 160 (just the default), then you turn to adjust up/down to the temperature you want.
During operation, it keeps tripping/resetting - light flicks off and on and it's back at 160. Annoying when you've been cooking at 200, don't notice, and come back an hour later to find it's only at 160.
Thermostat seems fine - it will get to 200 (we have an oven thermometer) and stay there until it does another trip/reset. If we notice, we adjust it straight back to 200 and it's fine. But if we don't it will cool to 160. So, it's correctly heating to the temperature on the display - the trouble is the display/setting having a mind of its own.
It's out of warranty so I've phoned Siemens and booked an engineer visit. If they can't fix it, we still have to pay the callout charge.
I did have an option of paying twice as much for a 12 month extended warranty. The only benefit would be that if they can't fix the oven, we pay nothing. Double or nothing gamble!
Just asking on the off-chance anyone has had the same or a similar fault and knows whether it's repairable or not... I can still phone back and switch to the warranty option at this point.

Sounds like something is loose inside somewhere, or the electronics in the control/display unit are faulty.
If the latter then to fit a new unit is simple, though the part may cost you around £100+.
Are there no "no fix no fee" engineers in your area?0 -
Thanks. I found some other posts online with the same fault and saw some people suggesting the control board. Annoyingly, people hadn't come back on those other threads to say if it was fixed or not.
If control board, I've seen that they can cost £100-150 for the part, in which case we'd be better off with the repair plan. But, with that, they can decide it's not "economically" repairable (ie the fix is too expensive), and then not give us the warranty. That wouldn't cost us anything, but we'd still have to then get it fixed separately. I wonder if it's an expensive enough part that they wouldn't give it out with the warranty option (I'm cynical!!).
Unfortunately I don't have a recommendation for an appliance repairer in my area. I know going straight to Siemens will be the most expensive option but as we both work full-time and getting time off for people to come round can be awkward, we tend to go with who we're fairly confident will be able to fix it straight away.0
