PPI knock backs letter validity ?

Hi All,
Was hoping someone on the board may have experience or advice on a few PPI questions ?
Filed a handful of PPI template letters for my girlfri!!! over a year ago. EGG credit card sent a cheque immediately, the others sent dismissive letters.
A year later, re-investigating this, purely as money is tight ( again ) and we need all the help we can get.
Resent template letters - this time full of as much information as she could remember. Sadly, the only information she can remember amounts to :
1. Previous addresses
2. Rough dates at those addresses
I've now had replies, filtering some out and dismissing them. However...
HALIFAX ( who she has always had an account, currently has an account with, and remembers having a credit card with ) have replied :
" you have requested... copy of above loan agreement... above loan was repaid on (date) ...this means no sum is, or will become payable by the debtor and therefore the bank is under no requirement to provide a copy of the agreement or statement of account "
BARCLAYS ( credit cards ) have written " unable to locate account from information provided. If you account has been closed ( * they have * ) it is possible your information has been deleted from the main system "
So, my question is : are these legitimate responses, and are they worth pursuing ? What would be the next step ? Ombudsman ? I've already requested a copy of the data held on her ? ( I do write to them as if i'm her and not a third party )
Is it best to just give a PPI chaser the information and let them run wild with it all ?
Thanks to all ! Hope someone can advise !
Dan.

So, my question is : are these legitimate responses,
Yes they are. The £1 CCA method only works on open accounts/current debt. Not closed/repaid debts. What would be the next step ? Ombudsman ?
You dont have access to the ombudsman until you complain and get the complaint response. Is it best to just give a PPI chaser the information and let them run wild with it all ?
No. A complete waste of money.
There is no need for you to obtain the credit agreement to make the complaint. That is a bit of a myth. So, just go straight to complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

I'm not surprised. As someone who has previously worked handling these type of complaints, it is easy to spot a template letter, they are obvious a mile off. When a case handler sees one of those letters for the 500th time, do you think it makes them think "this sounds like a genuine complaint". Or do you think it makes them think "not another idiot trying their luck"???A year later, re-investigating this, purely as money is tight ( again ) and we need all the help we can get.
The fact that you need money doesn't justify making an accusation of misconduct against someone. So this piece of info won't get you very far. Unfortunately, hope for financial gain rather than genuine belief of mistreatment is the driving force for most financial complaints these days.Resent template letters - this time full of as much information as she could remember. What exactly have you done and what are you trying to do?
If you have already made a complaint and been rejected then it is over the 6 months for the Ombudsman and no CMC will be able to change that. If all you are doing is asking for copies of the agreements then firstly, they are under no obligation to produce them if the account is closed and secondly if they cannot trace an account then they are not going to be able to do so. But this is nothing to do with the Ombudsman, whose role is to make a decision on complaints where the final decision letter has been issued and the parties cannot agree. If you haven't made a complaint then there's nothing the Ombudsman can do.
If you haven't already made a complaint then you just write to whoever you think has done something wrong, explaining what you think has been done wrong, when and by whom.0 -
Thanks @insider101 and @dunstonh for the replies.Much appreciated.0

If you were rejected over a year ago you have lost the right to refer your complaints to the ombudsman, and if you complain again, they can timebar your complaints.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
