New year eve break by the sea - recommendations ?

Hi all , myself and hubby would like to get away for a few days 30th Dec for 2 nights , fancy a seaside break but do not want to attend any fancy events , just a seaside break with walks along the beach etc .

The problem we have is all the hotels are mega expensive an have events on like dinner , entertainment etc

We are based in the midlands and would be able to travel anywhere within 2 hours by car

Any ideas or recommendations would be great , pref under £100 per night

Many thanks

Try smaller B&Bs or pubs. Smoothound.co.uk is a good site for finding such accommodation.

Will a two hour drive get you to much of the coast?

The Midlands covers a very large area! Care to be more specific?

Self catering accommodation on the North Welsh coast?

Have a look on ebay, we've bought some great holidays from there including a lovely cottage in Fife from which we could easily get to the sea (that was about 3 hours from us) for the Christmas/New Year period. We also went to Cornwall for Christmas/New Year one year, but that was an incredibly long haul. More recently, we bought a long weekend in Wales with a sort of sea-view, very close to the coast.

Have you looked at Staithes on the Yorkshire coast?
