BT Sport terrible picture-broadband or aerial problem??

OH sat down last night to watch Arsenal match last night but picture was unwatchable - jumping/sticking/lines across the screen. He then informed me he has not been able to watch a champions league match yet as the picture is so bad - premiership apparently is not too bad.

After staying on hold to BT for 15 minutes twice (first advisor nicely cut me off) they told me it was SKy's problem as the dish hasnt been tuned properly. Does this ring true? No other TV stations are affected and we had no problem with the channels before we took on this new contract.

We have been having issues with the broadband since the new contract too, wee niggly things like the the wireless dropping off, every time we go to watch something on demand we have to re-connect the router with the sky box and we bought one of those Amazon firesticks, which is now defunct as the it will not download anything.

Is this just coincidence? We are unlimited Infinity so I would expect a better service than this?

what kind of picture does everyone else have for sports?

Sounds like a wireless issue, which is not BT's responsibility.Change the channel from the default, if that doesn't help then use a pair of Homeplugs instead between router and PVR box.
I'm unclear if you are receiving BT Sport via your aerial or via a Sky dish, as you mention both-so which is it?

Sorry I meant through the Sky Dish.

Do you mean the actual wireless receiver used with the sky box may be at fault?

I suppose we could check this out - the router and the sky box are almost back to back....there just happens to be a wall between them, will have to go look about a very long cable.

    Thanks

Depends but mine is BT service not SKY .

Via BT You View box and ethernet home plug connection from BT router . As good as SD aerial reception .

Via Chromecast streamed over WiFi from BT Router its HD quality .

So you are receiving BT Sport as an additional subscription channel on your Sky box, not through a BT box and an aerial? The Sky channels all come from the same group of satellites, so it can't be 'out of tune' for one channel alone.
Wireless: I'm referring to your router/hub, not your Sky TV box. If you use Homeplugs you don't need a long cable, just a 13A plug socket near each device-the signal is carried along your ring mains circuit.

If you watch BT Sport via your Sky TV box (not a BT Youview box) then BT Sport channels are exactly the same as watching any other satellite channel , it doesn't use your internet , home plugs , Ethernet cable, etc...it's the signal strength, quality of the satellite signal and the Sky box etc, nothing to with BT apart from them telling Sky to enable your Sky viewing card, or are you using a Chromecast or similar and watching BT Sport on line but casting it onto your big TV that also has Sky connected ?

Yes we watch it through Normal Sky. I thought it was being streamed hence the bad quality during a popular match, my mistake.
I'll maybe call sky then and see if they can make any improvements

The 28E satellites are not all in exactly the same place in the sky (obviously) so if the dish alignment is marginal it is possible for some channels to be affected more than others, which makes them vulnerable to ambient conditions. Similarly the transmission power is not the same on every channel, again leading to certain channels being more affected than others.

There's a lot of pot luck with Sky installs, some installers are bang on, some ... less so. After my minidish blew out of alignment for the 3rd time resulting in the loss of half the channels, I went and bought my own bigger dish and installed it at ground floor level so I could adjust it with only a small step-up platform, rather having to get Sky round as I can't do a ladder to the roof.
