Can a dimplex heater be repaired ?

Hi everyone

I have an oil fired radiator that over the summer seems to have punctured and all the oil has leaked out so doesn't heat up.

Can it be refilled and re sealed anywhere or do I need to buy a new one , it's no longer under any kind of warranty .

Thankyou x

  • I would say for the cost of them thesedays at around the £35.00 mark a repair would be unviable to be honest, Bin it and buy a new one.

Yeah, I doubt a repair would be cost effective or safe.

When the risk is your house burning down, is it really worth taking for a one off payment of around £35?
  • It wasn't that cheap it's a big one and cost around £180 so would prefer a cheaper repair if it's possible

What size of oil filled rad costs £180?!
As advised already, the units are not serviceable, you'd need to have it welded and then somehow refilled.

  • It is big like a big panel heater

Even at £180- if anyone does offer to repair this for you there will be a risk of further problems and possibly a fire if not done correctly, Bite the bullet throw away and purchase a new one, I bet if you email Dimplex themselves they would advise it is not safe to repair these items.

How can a steel rad 'seem to puncture'? You'd have to hit it hard with something fairly sharp to cause such damage.

Doesn't really matter how big it is, a £35 will do exactly the same job.

What is the exact model number/description of the Dimplex heater you paid £180 for?

Their website has an online form to request repairs.
    http://www.dimplex.co.uk/customer_support/get_a_repair/in_warranty.htm

As your product is out of warranty, then a charge will almost certainly apply, but as it says, they'll tell you what it is and then seek your permission to proceed.
