Need some guidance on type of shower to install

Hi

First post, please be gentle! :)

I am renovating my bathroom and am looking at installing a shower over the bath, however I have quite low water pressure.

I am wondering whether a mixer shower designed for low water pressure would deliver a decent shower. I am not sure if I can add a pump as I live in a block of flats with a communal hot water system, and the hot water is pumped up from the basement boiler via a booster and the cold water comes from a tank on the roof.

Are electric showers any good? I haven't seen one I like the look of yet, but if that is my only option then I'll have to be less fussy I guess :)

Appreciate any guidance/advice from this who have any knowledge.

Cheers

  • Electric shower maybe a good option although this will need connecting to your cold mains not the feed from the roof tank
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Electric ones are OK if you are realistic about what they can do. If you think a shower should have the flow rate of Niagara Falls, and be hot enough to boil a lobster, then you may be disappointed. If you just want reasonably hot water fast enough to have a wash, they will do.

You need a mains water feed (which you should have for the kitchen tap), and a dedicated electric feed. They use a lot of current, about 40 to 45 amps, so can't just be hooked into an existing circuit.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
