I looooooooooooooove retail over Christmas (loathe it the rest of the year).

Debenhams temps get the starting rate which is £5.35 I think but may be changing in October. They also get 15% discount incl. on the Mega Days (in November, up to 25% off everything)

    checkouts
  • Some checkout operators stand.. all day, in the same spot.

What about gift wrapping in a shopping centre? That's christmassy
  • M&S aren't bad, outer London weighting is £6.40 ish an hour, time and a half on Sundays / bank hols, 20% discount card....get in there now people....if you get a store that opens just 9-5 (some of them do, sadly not mine lol) then it is entirely poss. to get 10-2 shifts to cover lunch breaks etc. Worth a go!

Should anyone feel mad enough to apply, give me a shout and I'll do what I can re recruitment questions and preparing for interviews. *tehee*

yes i do know that, i used to do that for 3 years... however if you look at places you regually shop ie morrisons/adsa you can see what they provide. Also not every store is the same, some chain companies allow chairs in some stores and not in others... research is needed, its all part and parcel of finding any job

  • Posting: This is true. BTW congrats on the weight loss. 17.5 lbs is impressive.

I might look for something in a department store for around xmas, but will need to see how my work situation is then.

Is it worth doing this when you already work full time.

would love to do this in the evenings/weekend but I'm concerned about the tax loss on a second job.

Hi you would get hammered on tax but you would probably get a rebate in the summer which is always a nice surprise.
