Halifax paid insurance company £170 despite them only having out of date debit card

The Halifax didn't give them the money, Axa took the money.
Halifax allowed the money to be taken because there was a continuous payment authority.
As you didn't tell Axa not to, you can't really blame them for taking the money.
Axa just need to refund you the money, and not waffle about Halifax's discretion, trying to apportion blame where none is due.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Halifax know nothing about CPA. For them it's just a CC payment.Goldiegirl wrote: »Halifax allowed the money to be taken because there was a continuous payment authority.
Most likely, AXA obtained the new (replacement) card details from Mastercard.0 -
It turns out that it was indeed a CPA but after a lot of complaining today, via email, Facebook and Twitter, they have agreed to refund me the full amount as a "goodwill gesture". Apparently they need my new card details in order to do this :huh:0
