Parcelforce Parcel 'delivered to neighbour'

Hello!
I was waiting on a parcel for a long time so contacted the seller, thinking they hadn't sent it, but they sent me a Parcelforce tracking number.
It says 9 days ago they were 'unable to find premises' - highly unlikely as even independent drivers for Hermes etc are able to, we live on a main road! It was returned to depot then redelivered the next day to neighbour, signed for by C BAXTER.. 14. We are number 16 but the people who live next to us are not Baxter's and I do trust them as they always hand over parcels and are police!
Anyway, I never had a card through the post either time, so I think they've delivered to somewhere completely different, however as the parcel is showing as delivered to neighbour, how can I negotiate an eBay claim - I'm trying to chase up with Parcelforce but they seem next to useless! I know the seller sent it, so don't want them to lose out, but I equally want my goods, or if not, my money back.
Any advice?

Have you tried doing a search on the internet to see if there is a C.Baxter living at a number 14 somewhere close to you?
The BT website is often quite helpful for finding addresses from a personal name and town name.0 -
The issue is that the item wasn't delivered.
It wasn't delivered to you at number 16 and it wasn't delivered to your neighbours at number 14.
Who knows where it was "delivered" to?
But it certainly wasn't delivered to the addressee.
The seller entered into the contract with the courier and the postage included insurance.
Raise the item not delivered case and get your money back.
The seller can then raise a claim against the courier.0 -

The tracking will show delivered though and that is what ebay care about. They may not care if it's another house or wrong person who signed. It says delivered. That's probably enough for the seller to win an INR case.
OP, ask the seller to contact Parcelforce. They are the customer as they paid for the postage, therefore they may get further.
Double check none of your neighbours have it. Not just 14 but others too in case they made a mistake with the number.
As already said, you could check to see if it has gone to an address nearby.0 -

Nope - I disagree, that won't be enough for ebay; it might take a bit of fighting your corner, but they can't say that an item delivered to a wrong address and signed by a non-existent person is a proof of delivery.
We've had threads on here before from ebay doing exactly that and the buyer not knowing what to do, in most cases with the seller doing nothing.
You could appeal the decision, but that's not always the easiest thing to do and there's no guarantee ebay will overturn the decision/help.
Also, the person may exist, it's just not the person next door.0 -
Update - Parcelforce state that the parcel was definitely delivered as the GPS was outside my house, however me, nor the policeman next door know of this, or of a C Baxter. It also doesn't explain why we haven't got a card through. The seller isn't responding to messages asking them to dispute the delivery with Parcelforce - what do I do next?0

If the GPS was outside your house it wouldn't make sense to stop and then go elsewhere to deliver it.
There's no card, the name is wrong and they state they delivered it to the house next to yours. I suspect the driver may have taken the parcel. The GPS makes it look like they're telling the truth, it wasn't delivered directly to you so you can't say he just never came and he's taken a chance by signing an actual name rather than doing a squiggly line like they usually do to make it appear genuine and no card means no reminder.
You could try contactng Parcelforce again. Perhaps they can investigate a bit more and question the driver. However, they can't get you a refund. The only thing they could do is possibly find where the parcel really is.
The only way to get a refund is to open a case against the seller. If they don't reply to that it won't look good on them, but if they have added (or do add) the tracking number you risk ebay siding with them as it states delivered and they might not pay attention to it being the wrong number and name. In which case, you'd have to appeal their decision.0
