Soil pipe in wrong position for Savoy low level toilet

I am wanting to replace an old yellow low level toilet for a white one. I have discovered that it is not easy as the soil pipe is not in right position for most styles available now (goes into concrete floor on ground level and is 23cm from back wall to middle of the soil pipe). I like the look of the bathstore savoy low level toilet, I rang them for specifications as it is not clear on the website. They could only give me the measurement from wall to start of toilet outlet pipe is 17cm. Do you think if I add an adjustable reach pan connector/swan neck this would enable this to fit?
Is it possible to get crome flush pipes in different sizes to help this fit?

    Hi

You should find that you can fit the Savoy as it's replacing a similar suite.
The flush pipe can be cut to suit, I don't think you will need a longer one.
Use a 90 degree Multiquick pan connector with an extension to get you to floor level. You might find that the old clay collar still sticks up out of the floor, break it off for a neater finish, the extension will fit inside the remaining pipe.

Bizarrely I have exactly the same problem with the Savoy!
They will order an S trap toilet for you no problem. Bathstore can't provide a longer flush pipe in chrome but said any plumbers place (like plumbcentre) would be able to do it & you just cut it to fit.
[He also said something about an easy move soil pipe, but I can't remember what that was.]
Btw, my toilet is yellow too.....do you live in my house?!  :rotfl:
  • How funny - I was in bathstore the other day trying to buy a toilet to fit a hole 23cm from the wall! I wanted one of those ultra modern ones that dont show any pipework but it's just not possible. The toilet we have now is very similar to the savoy, and it fits fine. Now we've decided just to tart it up with new chrome pipe and handle now as it seems that's the only option, other than digging the floor up to resite the hole!

Thanks for all your replies. I emailed bathstore for the specifications for the savoy and it looks like with it will nearly fit and even if it doesn't, I can order longer flush pipe from plumbers merchants.
  • I have ordered the savoy with pipe horizontal, I am not sure if I should have asked for a s trap fitting, staff in the shop seemed a bit vaque and certainly had no idea of the dilemas I am in. Does anyone have the measurements on the s trap as I dont have it delivered until Thursday i could maybe change it.

Ps I am panelling wall in bathroom so that will bring wall out slightly.
  • Hi

This will do the same thing http://www.drainageonline.co.uk/image_detail.php?im=fff7e2ba7bfcca62f2c30b30f8fbedabWC-CON8.jpg
    Without having to wait.
The dimensions will be about the same except the ceramic on the pan would finish about 2" short of the floor.

  • I also have a low level S trap wc - (yellow too !) that i want to replace. my soil pipe is 200mm (to centre of pipe) from the wall. seems nothing will fit. my problem is that the current loo projects 70cm into the room from the wall - and modern loos seem to project a lot further. i would be interested to know how far the previous solutions on this thread project into the room.

I also asked bathstore - the lady had never heard of an S trap loo. think she was only 10 years old. ha ha ha.

    all comments appreciated.

    regards

PS we should all start a second hand yellow loo shop !.
  • Hi

The basic problem is the soil connection so unless you can move it back you are stuck.

This is the only other way of getting back tight to the soil

  • Hi there,

I have the modena bathroom suite from better bathrooms. I have an electric shower currently and a low level toilet system. The modena is a thermostatic and aparently my new toilet won't fit because of the soil pipe. I have had two plumbers in for bathroom fitting quotes. The first said nothing about the toilet and said because I have a combi boiler that I couldn't have the shower because you cannot have a pump with a combi boiler, and suggested a electric one. The second plumber said I could have the shower with a pump? But I need to swap my toilet for a low level type toilet? he said the soil pipe would have to be moved. The house was built in the 70's apparently I have the old cast iron type. This bathroom fitter said it would be very expensive and cheaper to get a new toilet? I am up the wall at the moment with this silly bathroom suite. Better bathrooms will not except an exchange or refund due to it being outside the 28 day return period. I am trying to understand this stuff on the internet but I am not a plumber. I just want someone that can come in do what needs to be done and make it look nice. Everyone has different opions why is this? That some say yes and some say no ? I don't understand?
