Have you looked at the breakdown? Have you paid search fees yet?
My final bill always includes Stamp Duty also - Solicitors fees themselves tend to total around £1100 with all the searches, Land Registry fee, Bank Transfers etc.
Post up the breakdown if you are not sure
Oh, for buying and selling it will be more. I'd pay something like £1600 for sale and purchase. It is possible that you have been charged prortionately for the collapsed sale.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Are you sure that it's the solicitors fees that have added to the bill - and not things like disbursements?
Do you have a breakdown? Can you post details here please?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

£2000 is way more than most solicitor bills under most circumstances
As a ball park, say £1200 to sell and buy.
So the fact yours is £2k over sounds like their bill includes stamp duty, searches etc.0 -
Have you asked for a breakdown?
If you post it on here, I'm sure someone experienced in the house buying process like Doozergirl will have a look!Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -

Wait for the breakdown I guess. It's always possible they made a mistake.
I've had my sol put £800 instead of £80 once.
Stuff like regs for a conservatory is par for the course - that's what you pay them for. Even the change in mortgage do company has nothing to do with your sol. Delays, well they happen too!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

did the original quote include vat?
sometimes they give a quote without vat and when final bill comes in the extra 17.5% can be a bit of a shock!
can you look at your quote and confirm?0 -

I don't think they vary the price on the time taken usually. They will probably have charged you for the collapsed sale though (mine charged me half the fee and we had gotten to within days of exchanging).
Until you get the breakdown though you won't know exactly what it is for.0
