Screwed up with Serial Number/MPRN
Hi all,
I'm not sure whether this is my screw up or not (since it was about 4 months ago).
Anyway, decided to switch to nPower from using EnergyHelpline (using BG and EDF before). I have a few issues with the gas, as nPower couldn't find the meter point reference number. So I went and got the details off the meter (however for the flats we live in we have a bunch of meters all together - I may have picked the wrong one accidentally - most of the gas meters are listed by Plot number instead)
Called BG today to find out when I would be receiving the final bill since last month I paid to BG and nPower (same thing happened with EDF, and EDF gave a refund on the final bill), And they said the account was still active, I read the MPRN off the British gas bill to them too, and said it was under Plot 7, they suggested that I call nPower to make sure they have the right details.
Gave them both MPRNs (they had one listed on the final meter reading thing which was different to the BG one, and the serial listed on the nPower meter reading one - serial isn't on the BG Bill by the looks of it), and they said they'd need to call someone tomorrow and they'd get back to me.
I tonight went down to the meters and checked again with the two meters that I knew one was mine, they said that they'd be able to send the supply back to the old supplier.
Sure enough the nPower one is the one that isn't linked to my flat - so probably my fault for reading the wrong meter.
Hopefully with that info I can give them tomorrow (the correct serial etc) it should finally get sorted.
My main question is, where I've effectively been paying for 2 supplies, for nearly 2 months now, will I get a refund from either nPower or BG? I assume so since it really goes by meter readings.
Cheers
Ben
