Halifax PPI

Hi,

In 2012/2013 I successfully reclaimed miss sold PPI (& associated compound interest) on my credit card.
During the process I'm 90% confident Halifax wrote to me advising that they had cancelled the policy and settled the claim (which I received a cheque for).

Now, I'm pretty bad at checking statements but out of curiosity I looked at one recently and spotted that a transaction that I don't remember doing myself with the narrative 'Repayment Cover'.

My questions are:
1) Has anyone else successfully reclaimed from Halifax and do you remember getting correspondence advising the that policy had been cancelled?
2) Should I do another SAR's request just specifically for this account and then raise another new complaint?

Thanks

Why do you think you need to pay for a DSAR?

Just raise it with Halifax and see what they say.

  • So I called Halifax this morning and it turns out that my complaint was not upheld on this policy and that they did not settle my claim. I must have got mixed up between this one and another complaint I had running at the time.

They have reopened my complaint and added the extra information on - that I was under the impression that they cancelled the policy from my original complaint.

My original claim was based on the following factors:
    1) that during the selling process I was not made aware of all the features of the product.
    2) that I was not asked if I had another means of meeting the repayments.

They decided that the selling process was fair and the complaint was not upheld. Does anyone else have experience of this? Would it be worthwhile going to PPI company to get the case looked at again from the outset or even the FOS?

    Thanks

A CMC does nothing other than put your complaint in an envelope and post it to the bank. You have already put your complaint to the bank. You seem to be mistaken on what a CMC does.

You can refer to the FOS but you have to give the bank a chance to resolve this complaint first (at least 8 weeks).
