Long term shares

Evening all,
I have maxed out my mini ISA for the tax year so have decided to invest £200-500 per month into shares.
I'm new to all this - i'm a construction manager!!! - although when I was younger I was interested in shares and played invested "pretend" money in FTSE100 companies, keeping track of them on Ceefax - I can't remember how I did!
Obviously I want a better return than i'm getting from my savings account (and have fun at the same time) but because i'm a mere novice I think it's probably safest to stick to the blue chip shares and see how I get on - Tesco etc.
Can anyone give me any advise/links to good websites to bring me up to speed on all the jargon and advise on good shares etc?
Many thanks,

Search for value investing from google. It list alot of sites that discuss about how it works. This is the way how warren buffett invest in shares. Some sites even explain terms like P/E, ROE, Div Yield etc and how to look for Good buys.
Blue chip stocks are nice for long term but not all blue chip has the GOOD BUY price tag attached. So just beware and of course read the news about the current market volatility.0 -
The Motley Fool is worth a read - try its discussion boards - in particular, perhaps the High Yield Portfolio one..

Second the Motley Fool suggestion. Also have a look at Incademy.0
