If you own a multi-region DVD player, it'll be fine. G

UK players are locked to region 2 unless it has been modified to play all regions. What make/model DVD player do you have?

This may have been true in the distant(?) past, but multi-region DVD players have been around for a while - & they don't need any modifications to play all regions. G

Generally true if you buy a supermarket dvd player, but the likes of Pioneer, Sony, etc. bought from Currys etc. still tend to be Region 2 only. I did say "unless they have been modified". This, of course, could have been before purchase...and since we don't know the age or make of the OPs DVD player we can't answer the question.

If you put in the make/model of your dvd player into this site here:

    http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

It will show you how to set it to multi region, if it is possible for your particular player. It normally involves using the remote to type in a code to reset the players region to region 0 (all).
  • Doesn't your TV also have to be NTSC capable to play Region 2 DVDs?

    Yes, you're all right :).

To get the best answer, the OP needs to confirm what equipment s/he is intending to use to play Region1 disks - but I think our responses cover all possibilities.

I own a 6-year old 'rubbish' brand CRT TV & an inexpensive 'OK(ish)' brand multi-region DVD player, & they both display/play Region1 disks with no problems. G
