What is it realistic to expect from Sky for my dad ?

Hi all,

I have been with Sky for a few years with TV only. For the last few years, I have got 50% off for Sky Sports and Entertainment package.

I am now negotiating for my dad. He has the whole bundle (sky sports, sky variety TV, b/band and evening & w/end calls). He has today cancelled with Sky as he has received a letter to advise of the line rental increase so he can leave penalty free without an early termination fee. He has given his 30-day notice to cancel.

I am confident that I can get a 50% off deal for his TV. My question is what deal I should get/expect for his phone and b/band ? He uses the b/band not that often and doesn't download much. For his TV, I will also be looking to get a new HD box as his one is very old and I think also that he would benefit with the ONdemand services with the new box. I am also thinking of getting him WIFI for Ondemand. He is currently using a very old router.

He has been with Sky since they started and so I am keen to get him a good deal.

Can anyone please advise me wot to go for and expect.

Thanks

Have a look at this thread for some idea of what others are getting. Quite a few mentions of LR/BB deals in the last few pages - myself included.

Also, the price rise for line rental doesn't allow a free get out of any TV package if your dad is still in his minimum term.

No already dealt with that. He is out of contract for his TV.

Has he just cancelled tv, as if he cancels broadband and phone without having someone else take over he will lose his phone number and may incur expenses, too ?

I cancelled tv, then rang with 10 days to go on my free line rental,in order not to waste it.

Then got 50% off tv (down graded to Original) with £50 credit. Free broadband and line rental half price (but the latter was because the manager sorting out a mistake on my account couldn't get a £9.99 offer).

60% off Variety, Sports and Movies for 12 months, with £120 account credit.

You WILL need to play the long game, its going to need to the turned off before they entertain brining you back. You may need to spend 2-3 hours talking on "LIVE CHAT" to get this deal locked down.

Unsure on the BB Side, probably £17.40 and free BB for 12 months for a starter..

They wouldn't have been able to offer me that, on just Original, or they would be paying me to take the service.:)
  • Been contacting Sky (phone and online chat) this morning and have agreed for my dad :

    - 50% off TV variety + sky sports. No contract but deal will last for 12 months.

    - Free b/band and 10 month line rental with a reduction of £4 per month. After 10 months, it will be the full line rental. Can't remember whether Sky charge £16.99 or £17.99 per month for line rental. He will be on a 12 month contract for b/band and phone.

    - An engineer will visit him this week to replace his HD box. Sky have offered to do this for free.

He is very pleased and thanks to Sky.

    HTHs.
