Canon 400 camera- will these flashguns work?

I have just bought a Canon 400 Digital camera with the 18-55 kit lens.

When I had my old Canon SLR I used these two flash guns, will either work with my new camera or do I need to save up lots of pennies for a new one?

a friend of mine has an eos 400 He also has an old speedlight which I know doesnt work with the camera i dont know about the hamex

Best people i know to talk to are the staff in a shop in chelmsford essex called the camera world they are really helpful people who wont try to sell you stuff you dont need etc 01245 255512 all of the staff there are really knowledgeable
