Ah that's nice SSM...when my DH was alive and the grandsons were small we celebrated it with the full works but being on your own it seems somewhat scary:eek:as the kids that call are teenagers now and not little tots
My own feeling is that its all very well when little ones come knocking (well supervised by an adult to ensure they are safe) but I have a real objection to older ones/teenagers banging on doors and demanding handouts. We don't have much of a problem down here other than an egg or two thrown at the windows or car but even that is not really acceptable and it is certainly intimidating to anyone who is on their own. I don't see why anyone should have to be frightened to the extent of having to leave their own home or sit in the dark - or have to clean up the mess that can be left behind !
I'm in a ratty frame of mind at the moment having just had my very first trouting in Asda and am absolutely fuming ! Just got off the phone to CS who have just waffled and said they will pass my complaint on - they told me to refreeze my defrosted soggy pizzas and I doubt I will hear anything else back from the store. I had to unpack my shopping twice while the CS checked I had the right items, she called a supervisor THREE bloddy times and told me she was fed up with forgeries and where did I get so many coupons from (2 Cravendale milk - replacements from Cravendale after a bottle went sour 8 days before its use by date, 2 crisps - from Walkers to replace a multibag that were mainly crumbs, 2 Knorr Safe coupons and 2 Dr Oetker coupons from their current pizza promotion - so all legal, in date and items purchased). I am not a happy bunny.ELITE 5:2

Bless, no wonder you are fuming. I would be as well. Can you direct your frustrating on the teenagers. I have to admit we have no problems where we live as everyone knows each other. In the last 35 years there has been one burglary and one theft from a shed... on both occasions the culprits were found out by the community (and a little help from e-bay!) lol x100 -

Thought of you yesterday. Went to town for the first time in ages. A Roman shop has now opened there so popped in to look at your green dress. Not one in sight! All stock was blue/black or red.
I think they must have been end of line, cost they were gone when I got back there. I did try on the blue/black sparkly one but was not impressed, I was covered in glitter! Ended up getting a lace topped blue evening dress from TKMaxx.Ladyshopper wrote: »Well, day 11, I've finally had a shower and am sat in the chair feeling more human than I have for a long time!
C diff is an infection I wouldn't wish on anyone, it's taken so much out of me, and the rivers of diarrhoea wouldn't have been out of place in an alien apocalypse!!
I've. Been in my own room with energy to breathe and not much else. Meanwhile the whole ward has had infection control up here swabbing and high intensity cleaning, so patients have had to be moved about so they could do this. Nanny, it will certainly be clean when you come for your op!
No one can come into my room without yellow apron and gloves, and I'm not allowed to leave. However antibiotics really seem to have worked and am hoping to be discharged on Monday.
I hope I haven't missed too much and everyone is ok!
That does not sound pleasantGlad you are feeling better, hope you can make it home on Monday
As for Halloween, we don't get many callers round here fortunately, one year one of our neighbours actually came round a couple of days before warning us he would be bringing the kids and giving us sweets to give themManaged to let out a good scream and look suitably terrified when they arrived
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
we don't usually have trick or treaters down our road as its off the main road - there have been at least a dozen kids grown up here but all were grown up long before the recent Americanised Hallloween hysteria took hold
but having said that this year in 3 green fields off the main road they have built housing estates, one estate almost finished and one in progress but houses already occupied- so the local population has doubled this year.
so I've got some glacier mints and toffees and midget gems etc in bowls ready just incase - I usually get a mass of assorted wrapped sweeties anyway at the start of November in readiness for filling the Christmas shoe boxes“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. I know you all know that codes aren't permitted on this board but I've just had to remove a post by mhoc that posted a code. Please remember the rules, thanks.0

I had to see the dietician as the thought of eating and drinking was making me feel nauseous. She came up with some tactics and I order whatever I want (which is very plain food) and I started having bits of food again on Thursday. Still having an issue with drinking though so on fluid drip, but I'll get there.
It's just nice to wake up today and feel so much better. It's been awful.
Glad you are feeling a smidge better - some hospitals have been closing wards because of the dreaded v and d so at least you were only shunted about.
until they see you drinking and eating they are going to be reluctant to letting you go home. I am wondering if you could eat something like melon or ice lollies which are mostly water - def if you can manage ginger ale to stop the ickiness.
that Easter we all went down with the terrible bug I felt nauseous for weeks afterwards so I always had crystalline ginger to carry around with me - I had to bite it to eat it, sucking it actually made things worse“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove.
