It was a little of a muggle shop, as is the one tomorrow, although I'm expecting an APG of between £24-£25 this time. I expected around £20 last time but only got £15+. However the £10 pressies from A's means I can get my pressies early at a good price.
We've actually just started shopping in Aldi & Lidl & I must admit we're impressed so far. Even Aldi cheap frozen peas taste great, are more like garden fresh petit pois , their chips are 89p for 1.5kg & they have 400gm packs of ham (offcuts BUT the ones we had were huge slices with 1/2" off the bottom) for £1.65 & very tasty they were too. Makes me wonder now why I ordered 2 gammon joints for tomorrow? They can go in the freezer for Xmas.
There are quite a few things I think are better tasting & also cheaper than the big 4/5. The above + coleslaw, quiches, frozen lamb shanks, ice-cream. Looking forward to trying more things as we were pleasantly surprised at everything we've bought so far.
Have to go really early though, or really late as it's like a scrum in there during 'normal' daytime hours. FAR too many people for me to feel comfortable! Then again ours has a HUGE catchment area so they need to build more in a load of smaller towns.
we have been doing the same - gradually expanding our Aldi list each week.
The frozen peas are def very good and we now buy Aldi chips and french fries instead of McCain. Also the normal cheddar in various versions 350g for £1.55 and all sorts of reginal variations for about £1.18. OH prefers their coleslaw and they have an excellent selections of pre packed deli meat. Also the fruit and veg is verg good - bananas, potato's, carrots and onions.
They do a version of radlers beer for £1.49 for 4 bottles.
Last week we tried the Granola bars - similar to Nature Valley which are £2.40 or £1.60 on special offer - these were a success and only 99p!
Also for the freezer I got the premium frozen breast for under £4 - think there is 5 pieces - very useful for pasta bakes and stir fries
OH likes the pasta bake as well
each week we find something new to try“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
Can't help with the ice cream... but the sauces are just 75p in Morrisons (4 for £3), you could get 10% back with apg anytime (68p).. the glitchy price is 50p so it's not an amazing glitch really.
Sometimes it makes sense just to 'buy in M'... they do some nice fresh cream cakes in Morries too :rotfl:
good luck with the hozzy, do you know what your having?
Yes I just saw that the sharwoods will still work out a bit cheaper doing a target shop so will still get a couple. We don't have a M here.
Thanks

Morning all,
Early chauffeur duties to the airport already done today. Couldn't find my sat nav though.
Could have done with it because lots of hold ups due to various roadworks, took me double the time to get back than it should of.
Thankfully borrowed DD2's sat nav to find my way to her friends house for pick up but mine is one of those smart ones, what on earth have I done with it. Last remember using it when I went to DD1's when she had her interview. It's not in the car I have just checked.0
