Switch Barclays to TSB- will fraud case stop it?

Hello,

I am planning to switch from Barclays to TSB soon. Unfortunately my Barclays account was subjected to some fraudulent online transactions (one of the reasons I want to move alongside Barclays crappy benefits!!"). A case was raised by Barclays and they credited my account with the money that was stolen and I recently had a letter to say that they were happy for the credit to remain and that they would be in contact if they required any further documents etc. I assume they will be investigating where the money went although it was only around £60 so who knows!

My question is.. If I switch my current account to TSB will I be penalised by Barclays for doing this if they are investigating a fraud or will it stop my switch? They should still have access to my banking records despite the account being closed right? Also I don't want to look suspicious for switching my account!!!

Kind regards to everyone

Meggles

If the letter clearly stated they will not be taking back the £60 then you should be safe (keep that letter!!!)

I'm not sure that the fraudulent activity can be blamed on Barclays and they appear to have responded satisfactorily to your complaint and promptly refunded the money. The grass is not always greener; don't take any hasty action because of this.
That said, so long as you don't make yourself unavailable to Barclays and respond promptly should they ever contact you again regarding this matter, then I don't really see any problem in switching accounts now.
