Back in 1991 my hubby had a visa card he had a problem with a holiday company taking 2 payments for a hoilday. A dispute ensued with visa who say the amount had to be paid, he refused to pay it and following a battle changed credit card company. For a number of years and alot of correspondance from both my OH and Visa the debt seem to dissappear or so he thought. To his horror this week he received a letter from an unknown company stating they wanted to reclaim the amount outstanding.

Does anyone know what the implications are on this. I'm sure we still have all the copies of correspondance in our attic somewhere!!! but can this be taken up again after such a long time. Would appreciate any advice dont want to spend a week in attic looking for paperwork if I dont have to.

Thanks

If this is the first contact in 6 years or more regarding the debt, I don't believe they can legally ask for any repayment.
