Updated from 8.1, everything works OK apart from the sound which has a digital 'buzz' sound every few seconds, the sort of sound you get when something crashes- but nothing is crashing and when watching youtube for eg the sound and sound match perfectly still. It affects all programs which use sound, everything from the iplayer to Spotify.

I've tried updating the sound cards (no updates requested by Microsoft when searching updates so I just did a control panel-program-update thing).

It's not made it any better. Not sure if there is anything else I can try- does anyone have any suggestions?

Search for Win 10 compatible audio drivers on the manufacturers website?

Failing that, try re-installing the 8.1 driver and seeing if that cures it. Might create other issues though.

The buzzing sound you get when something crashes...?! My computers have always been silent in such a case!

If you open the audio mixer and start a program that generates audio, try moving each slider down to zero (except the one that cuts of the audio).

I've often found that some random unused audio channel creates feedback, causing the buzzing noise.

W10 doesn't seem to like sound drivers much, especially on older machines...I've had to reinstall them several times in the couple of months I've had W10 on this HP6710b - after seemingly randomly corrupting them

Computer is only just 2 years old. It was and is otherwise working fine aside from a memory stick down (it became faulty a few months ago) so I'm not sure if it's the age of the computer that's the issue.

When I say the sound of the computer when it crashes- I don't mean that this is the sound all computers make, I'm just trying my best to describe a sound which is quite difficult to describe and this is the only thing I can think to liken it to! It's a digital type sound, not like a glitch I've heard pre the year 2000 IYSWIM.

I'm not sure what the audio mixer is or what I'd be looking to mess with if I did locate it, I'm not sure if that would alter it as I'm assuming it's a software issue with Windows 10 not having installed itself correctly or the old sound drivers not being compatible with Wind.s 10 despite what was said about it all being fine!

I didn't have this issue with Windows 8.1 but am not sure if something is corrupted and so wont be fixed if I revert back or if everything will be fine. I was hoping someone else may have had this issue and been able to resolve it. I'm lost for ideas to try other than to revert back and I really don't want to do that, I'd rather try to fix it :/
