L shapped carpet

I have jusjust moved into a bungalow due to disability. One of the issues I have with my new home is the hall carpet. It's old and scruffy and needs replacing. It is in an L shape, both parts being around 300cm long and maybe 80cm wide. It is currently joined but I find that difficult to navigate with my disability. I do not want to buy a massive carpet and only use one edge but without a join I do not know if there is aa reasonable way of doing. Any idea will be welcomed. Thank you.

If you contact a carpet fitter (maybe recommended by a neighbour or friend) and ask them how they would make a join, you should be fine. It depends on the type of carpet weave and whether or not you have to turn the cut piece through 90 degrees to make up the L. I recently had a similar job done in my lounge and you cannot see the joint .

Don't replace the carpet, have laminate flooring instead (or original floorboards if they are good enough).
