To help others in my situation, this is how things panned out.

The Benefits Centre inform the council that you are no longer unemployed, and you receive a letter shortly thereafter informing you that they have done so.

So despite what some of the posts in this thread suggest, you don't need to walk to the council office to tell them, send Recorded letters, etc, etc...

But there are circumstances where this doesn't happen. You have a legal obligation to inform them yourself of a Change of Circumstances, if the nob0dy notified them it would be the claimant who would be responsible not the Jobcentre.

    Hi

I was claiming JSA for 8 weeks, but have found employment.

I have phoned the benefits office and told them that I am now in employment.

Do I need to also inform the council (they reduced my council tax due to unemployment.)

I was thinking once I told the benefits office that I am employed, then they might inform the council on my behalf?

    Thanks

Opinions all over the place here with end of world possibilities.

Stopping JSA claim should be notified to council, but best to cover yourself.
