Recommended jump start kit?
My car has a new trick where it randomly dies which I'm trying to figure out but in the meantime I need a jump start kit to get the car going again when it does happen. I don't mind spending a bit more on it as it's a handy thing to have anyway, any recommendations?
Thanks,
John

The Clarke 910? from Machine Mart. Bought mine in 2006 and the battery is just starting to show its age.
Its the one with the compressor also, costs a little more than the cheapies but i read a review on the autopexpress site where they asked if they could drop the price and they said only by fitting a cheap rubbish battery, which they wont.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I bought one of these.
No bigger than the palm of your hand, comes in a zipper folder with jump lead and usb charger fitments and can fit in your glove box.
A friend of mine in the motor trade has one and he swears by it too.

Wow, that looks amazing - how does it work when it's so small or is it simply a case that the bulky versions are inefficient because they're using a car battery?
Being able to use it to power other devices as well is a real bonus.0 -
I've had a Clarke Jumpstart 4000 for several years, its not cheap but it will start virtually anything.
If you need a jump pack the worse thing is not having one with enough clout when you do need it.0 -
what's the point, just make sure the car battery is charged, or carry a spare.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0

I use them for many jobs, ideal when swapping a battery on a car so you dont lose the radio code or other settings.
Young lady at the hospital was grateful when i used it to start her car, facing downhill in a corner spot so you wouldnt have got close enough with jump leads unless you were lucky and the car next to her moved.
Very hand to have, mines also got a compressor to inflate the tyres.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

The point is to start the car when it won't go itself, it's a lot easier to jump it rather than swapping the batteries. There seems to be a drain on the car that's randomly killing it, I need to get it started to get it to a garage.
