Actually I just remembered and checked.... my Smile account isn't quite open as I havent supplied my proof of address documents yet. Do you think it is ok to cancel my application where it is, wait for about a month and then switch one of my Tesco accounts to Smile?0

I mean you'd be better abusing a provider you won't need in the future, ie for a switching incentive or decent interest rate. I firmly believe that's why HSBC declined my Advance account application a few months ago. Either that or the fact they saw approaching 30 current accounts on my file when they searched it!Sorry for my ignorance I am not sure what this means. Do you mean better to open Natwest or RBS or Barclays account and switch between these?0 -

But why do you want to switch an account that's currently paying you 3% AER on £3K of your savings?0 -

Sorry for my ignorance, am not sure what "abusing a provider" means. Do you mean NatWest, RBS, Barclays don't have switching incentives?0 -

Ok I think I think I understand what you mean....better to open 'donor' accounts with bank like Barclays (that dont offer switching incentive) and switch to a bank such as Smile who DO offer the switching incentive. Have I got it yet?? *hits own head*0
