Electric radiators - Advice needed

That's because you currently have a stupid system. You should have a tank and E7 water, that way you don't have to worry about everything else on day rate, because those things only cost peanuts to run. Heating and hot water are the big users and if they are both on E7 then they are costing at least half as much as they would on flat rate. Everything else is practically inconsequential.Because it's not just a matter of heating costs is it. When on E7, the price of everything else you use during the day is hiked and in my case that includes hot water.
Thats why you need a tank. For the moment I run round like an idiot late at night or early morning to do the washing up etc in the cheap time slot.0 -
What wiring and plumbing would that be then? :rotfl:Richie-from-the-Boro wrote: »- you are already wired and plumbed for it, where was the tank before it was removed ?
There was never a tank.
It's a 300 year old cottage which has spent a lifetime as a family's personal holiday cottage. They did as little as possible to it.
There is a shower room with an electric shower.
In the kitchen the water is heated by a little old wall mounted Creda Corvette.which belongs on The Antiques Roadshow.
And that's it.
When the kitchen is gutted was thinking about one of those 15 litre water heaters you can put under the sink.
A tank would be better of course but would have to weigh up costs of install etc. Would it have to go in the loft? There is no water used upstairs. The shower room/loo is on the ground floor.0 -
So what would you like to achieve Pineapple? What wiring and plumbing would that be then? :rotfl:

If it were me, I would be looking at if/how I could get a proper E7 system up and running. Is there anywhere you could fit a tank?
Unless you use very little water, I would forget the 15l instant water heater. It'll be running all day on expensive rate for very little convenience.
My money would go on getting the hot water on E7 and sorting out the E7 heating.
I think you may need a professional to come in and look at whats possible, it seems like its going to be too difficult to give you the correct advice with the details we have.0 -
I want to achieve a minimal acceptable standard for future buyers at as little a cost as possible as I don't know how long I will be here.
Hoping the uniqueness and character of the property will make up for the shortcomings!
Anyway got someone coming round tomorrow to run me through the options. My water consumption at the moment is as frugal as I can make it!
Instead of merrily handwashing dishes as and when and rinsing under very hot running water I save up my dishes to wash in the same bowlful and rinse under a a virtual trickle. Plus I try to do it in the cheap rate time. Same with the shower. Laundry is done at the launderette at the mo anyway.0
