Gas boiler shutting down

Any advice appreciated.

Was round at friends last night and he was telling me that once his radiators are up to max heat, after a while they cool down, but then they do not get hot again. Room gets colder.

He has to turn CH off at controller then turn back on again to get radiators to come back to temp

Gas combi boiler, hall thermostat, thermostatic radiator valves.

Anyone experienced this?
Thank you

  • Sounds like it's tripping on one of the safety devices like overheat, when he switches off it resets. There should be a red warning light if it trips though usually on the outside of the boiler but it depends on the make.

Is the thermostat on the boiler itself set high? I normally have my boiler thermostat set fairly low to stop my radiators getting too hot.

Even if this was the case which I very much doubt, I can't see that this has anything to do with the problem, but way to go to frighten the OP :T
