I keep getting documents sent to me and they are all Microsoft Word written. Though I can view them I can't edit them or send them back if I copy-paste them as the people sending them have the paid version of Office and I use a free version or Google Docs.
Is there a free version which is compatible with the paid for Windows version which I can save on and attach back to those who only have Windows Word?
So far I've just been copy-pasting to an email but it doesn't look very professional doing this.

You could try picking up an older version of Office for not much money.
Depending upon your employer (if you are working), they may offer the Micro$oft Home User Program (HUP), which allows you to buy MS Office for £9.95.
However, neither of those are free, which LibreOffice is. However, be aware that, whilst it can open and save in MS Office format, its user interface is quite different so using it will be different to MS Office.
Another option is if you have an iPad; I seem to have a free version of MS Office on mine.0 -
Used to be called Kingsoft Office. Very good, and free:

Sign up to OneDrive, upload documents and edit with Word Online, right click on document and select "Open with Word Online" - https://onedrive.live.com and it's free.0
