Overdraft request rejected - does this affect my Credit Rating

As the title suggested I recently attempted to take out an overdraft on my current account and I was refused.

Will this impact my credit score negatively?

Not necessarily,
It depends whether they have based the decision in internal data and account history, or whether they have credit searched you.
If they have credit searched, this will appear on yor credit file. It's not usually an issue of it's just 1 or 2 searches, and they only remain for 12 months anyway, it's only an issue when there's a lot over a short period.

I have never had a hard search for an overdraft request its always been based on internal data.

I recently raised my rbs overdraft...checkmyfile recorded hard search.

The internal score that the banks see is prior to the full application which includes hard search

Hi, my overdraft is with Lloyds and they never did any credit check?? must have been just internal data such as my regular income and managing my account well?

Could not get an overdraft with HSBC for years I used to try and get one regurlarly. Finally got one a couple of years ago. No hard searches ever recorded.

I expect it depends on the bank, who do you bank with Providence100?


If you let us know someone might be able to advise whether your bank usually check CRA's or just an internal credit score.
