  • Hi Leven,

I recently bought a couple a convection heaters off Amazon. They do the job very well, and they are not bad looking either.

In my opinion, oil-filled radiators have no advantage. As others have said their performance is the same.

One down side with oil filled radiators is the weight of them. The oil free is much lighter, which is a big plus for me.

All in all, for me, the oil free is winning at the moment so perhaps my mistake has turned out for the best.
  • Some types of oil free radiators allow you to switch one side of the radiator on as opposed to switching both sides on at the same time.

This is a great little feature allowing you to save energy. Just read your instruction manual to see if your radiator has this feature.

It's called Twin Panel Technology. The Cadiz mentioned above has this but it's a 2kW heater.

Got it! Thanks.:) So as I understand it, the only thing that really makes a difference to running costs of these types of heaters would be a built in room thermostat.

Ultimately, the only things that make any difference to your running costs are room temperature, outside temperature, and building insulation. A thermostat only makes a difference insofar as it may help you avoid overheating your room.

Click on the link, you will see that it is actually a 3KW heater although they do have a 2KW version of the Cadiz which is cheaper.

My oil filled heater does this.

It has 2 1.5kW elements and you can select either top, bottom, or both.
