Yes: don't use PHP. Grim language, shameful runtime, appalling ecosystem. Whatever you want to use it for, there's a better alternative. It's a sign of just how dreadful PHP is that server-side Javascript (Javascript, !!!!!!) in the shape of node.js looks utterly brilliant by comparison. Python and Flask is another, infinitely superior, alternative.

and, with the warning it contains bad words:

No matter how horrible it may be technically PHP is still the most widely used server side programming language.
I was the originator of the old thread mentioned above. I tried several of the recommended editors but have remained on my old trusty kedit which is no longer available sfaik and almost certainly would only suit mainframe dinosaurs such as myself anyway. For reasons unknown but most likely a Windows fix it started behaving itself again.
Actually I see that there is again activity from the authors http://www.kedit.com/ This wasn't around when I raised that old thread or maybe I just didn't look for an update. I'll use the free upgrade.0 -
I haven't read the old thread (or maybe I even made the same post in there), but I have been using notepad++ for text editing for a while.0
