    That isn't possible.
Debt collectors have no powers. They cannot take you to court. They cannot send bailiffs round to your house. They cannot affect your credit rating.
All they can do is send bog paper begging letters, and poor quality bog paper at that.

In order to have your credit rating affected to you would have to: -
Go to court. (Debt collectors can't take you to court.)
Lose in court. (Debt collectors can't take you to court.)
Not pay the court costs in the allotted time. (Debt collectors can't take you to court and don't get costs awarded to them.)
Get a CCJ set against you. (Debt collectors can't do this as they can't take you to court.)
ALL of the above has to happen to get your credit rating affected, and no debt collector in the land can do this.

I've never read such utter nonsense in my life, and you should refrain from giving advice about something you clearly know nothing about.

Erm ... I think it is YOU that needs to refrain from commenting on comments that are, in fact, correct. ;)

The only difference is if a debt goes to court, a judgment is made, it isn't paid, and the debt is of an amount that allows High Court enforcement to be made. Only THEN can bailiffs be employed with power of the court to be able to enter premises etc.

A debt collector can do nothing other than send threatening letters.

Send ONE recorded delivery letter to nPower and ONE to the debt collectors. Cease and desist, no phone calls/emails/removed implied right to visit. Allow them to correspond only by letter. Charge them £150 per call/email/visit.

I had a second phone line with BT which went faulty. 3 missed appointments and numerous phone calls and they hadn't fixed it for 5 months so I stopped paying. BT passed it to a DCA whom I sent a cease and desist. Unfortunately/fortunately they sent me an email and I sent them an invoice for £150 combined with a Letter Before Action. Got letters from BT and the DCA telling me they were no longer pursing the debt and a cheque for £150.

Are there any guides for this cease and desist process and how much you can invoice them for harassment for unwarranted bill chasing?
