This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning :hello:

Just been pottering lately, and making sure I'm up to date with paperwork.

We're off to Looe in Cornwall in a mo. We're all packed, I'm sure Scampi has more stuff than us :D I gave him some travel sickness drops yesterday so hopefully he'll be OK in the car. This holiday is either going to be fab, or a stressy, barky disaster, lol. Miss tru is playing chicken farmer for a week :D I've filled the feeder and waterer, she probably won't have to do anything except collect eggs and a head count each night.

We've been to Looe a few times so know where everything is, no need to search for bakers, butchers, etc. My plan is to arrive, dump everything in the kitchen in the bungalow then introduce Scampi to the sea :D

• Good morning all,

Thank you Tru for starting us off, and I hope you have a great holiday and Scampi loves the sea.

It is still quite dark here and rather cool.

DGD1 and her boyfriend went off to Florence for a few days yesterday, and she sent me photographs last night, she sounds very happy.

We are taking DGD2 to her drama club later and then picking her up at lunchtime, so we can't go very far away. I have a couple of jobs to do around the house, but not much, we seem to be up to date.

HH I hope your DH can talk some sense into his brother.

TA I am pleased you eventually had the phone call

Have a good day all

Good morning everyone :hello:

I woke up early to check on Max this morning. He seems really fine after his snip and chip yesterday. He doesn't like wearing his cone of shame but he will have to get used to it for a few days at least. I felt awful seeing him leave for the vets yesterday and so I distracted myself by doing some christmas wrapping. Hubby was the same and so he was sorting out all his computer bits so there was cables and hard drives all over the place. We were both so happy when Max came back home. He's had his breakfast and some pain killer so he should be good now.

The girls are still in bed fast asleep but they will be tidying their rooms today as they are all disgusting. I then want to have a blitz on the house so cue lots of moaning. I don't care though as it needs to be done. I have already washed one load of clothes with many more to follow. Hubby is cooking tonight as it's the weekend but I will be making my own tea as I want something a bit healthier than fish and chips.

Anyway, that's all from me for now. Tru, I hope you have a fantastic holiday and that Scampi will enjoy it as well.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning all

Tru have a fabulous holiday , hope it's not cold X

Off to have my hair cut , I'm growing out my layers so it's looking a bit straggly .
Dd2 and DH are going to a uni open day so that will give me a few mins peace and quiet :D I've just downloaded a book onto my kind!e app and can't wait to get into it

The house is clean , I put some towels out on the line yesterday and they are still there as it rained while I was out , so will have to rescue those , probably will need spinning again

Not sure what's for tea, we are eating out of the freezer this week so it's a case of pot luck :D

Have a lovely weekend everyone xx
• Morning all. It's looking pretty drab outside but apparently a little bit of sun is forecast. Mind you they said that yesterday and, guess what, it never appeared! But at least it was dry.

Have a lovely holiday TRU - I'm sure Scampi will love it. We used to take our two Border Collies to Cornwall every year and we couldn't keep either of them out of the sea. Oh those were the days.

Mr TA has an appt for his flu injection this morning. I never have one but will go down with him and have a wander round the bargain freezer/chilled food shop and see what I can spot. Quite often a good bargain or two to be had, which gets squirrelled away.

Apart from a bit of ironing not much else in the way of jobs is planned for today. A fish mix is thawing to make a Fish Pie for tonight's Strictly feast! It's so much easier meal planning since Mr TA started eating a bit more. He's still on small portions but that's a big improvement on what it was. And I'm still almost force-feeding him the Fresubin drinks/shakes in between meals! I'm doing my best to build him up a bit before his treatment starts.

Have a good day all ((((((HUGS)))))) if needed. Thinking of you and your DB JACKIE. Take care all xx

Morning everyone.

After a lovely day yesterday today looks rather gloomy, hope it brightens up.

Yesterday I collected my new curtains very early on, even got to JL before the shop opened at 9.30am. The curtains are great, well worth the expense, can't wait to see them hanging up.

Mum had packed enough for a grand tour of Europe as opposed to three nights at the coast! She worries about 'what if I need...' Type thing. Anyway, we did a bit of food shopping on the way up and stopped at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar for lunch. Unsurprisingly the place was packed so mum just had a salmon bagel. I don't eat fish so sneaked off for a bacon sandwich at the garden centre next door.

No idea what the plans are for today, depends on the weather really. There's no housework or washing to be done. :j

TRU - I hope you all have a great holiday.

Now I'm off to make the morning cuppa. Happy Saturday everyone.

Morning all,

I'm still ill. So ill in fact I had the bed to myself cause hubby risked a bad back by sleeping downstairs.:D

Hubby has just left the building. The car is having its annual MOT as well as having a few bits and pieces done to it. I hope they can see through the layers of caked on mud both inside and out cause its filthy. He's borrowing a courtesy car as the dealership is miles away and it's booked in for 4 hours.

Need to go shopping today. Can't do it tomorrow as I've got my Grandson all day and overnight. I'm not well enough really but the hotel has been booked. I've told hubby he's going to have to entertain him cause I'm really not up to the job. It's safe to say I won't be passing my germs on to him since I'm pretty certain he passed them on to me last weekend.

From something youngest posted on FB yesterday, he's still pretty angry with his Dad. I got to hear both sides of the story last night and I can see both sides. Hubby goes on and on and on and Youngest won't be told.

Oh well, Tru have a lovely holiday and come back refreshed.

Onwards and forwards,

Have a great day all.

Well BIL finally plucked up enough courage to visit MIL in hospital, unfortunately it was Dutch courage!
Hubby arrived home around 6ish thoroughly exhausted & hacked off.
MIL is having another scan as there is a problem with her kidneys, I'm assuming it's secondary cancer but FIL thinks it's an infection. I don't think they'd scan for that, but we will find out soon enough no doubt.
We are collecting 2 of the DGC today, they will stay the night, we will do baking and sewing, play games etc.
Yesterday I took DGD 4 to her dance class, I bought her a magazine on the way back, unfortunately there were paints & and glitter pots with it. Whilst I was struggling to open the paint pots & getting covered in bright pink paint DGD opened the glitter & dropped it on the kitchen floor!
So today's jobs are mainly involved in clearing up the kitchen as it looks like an explosion in a glitter factory.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
Chin up, Titus out.
• Good Morning everyone, jolly chilly here today so I'm going to spend most of it in tidy up/get rid of mode indoors and in the store room. He Who Knows is off walking Cookie and I'm trying to catch up here as we had a problem with the computer yesterday, it updated and we lost all the controls, it happened after a Skype call with DD yesterday afternoon and is a complete nightmare. Thank heavens He Who Knows is computer savvy but it's got him stumped, he just knows ways round things so here I am now!

Wonderful news yesterday, my lovely Son in Law has been awarded a Fellowship by the University he is a researcher at, he's a bright laddy and works very hard so lovely that his dedication and application has been recognised. It gives them another bit of security in life and will be to his advantage if her ever decides to come out into the world of non academia and apply for jobs. Well done that man!!!

Mollie has gone home now and we're not needed for her on Monday as mum is a nurse and doesn't work on Mondays. We had a really nice thank you present too a piece of local cheese, some really posh biscuits and a tracklements onion marmalade to go with it, will be much enjoyed. It was really nice having a hound around and we've said we're always happy to cover again if it's needed, Mollie knows us now and fitted in here really well.

Have a lovely day everyone, stay warm, Lyn xxx.

Congrats to all that have done well and comiserations to those who are feeling down and poorly
Hope you have a good holiday in Looe, went there years ago with my OH and I thought it was the nicest place in Cornwall.

Still waiting to hear how my brother is in France, I'm hoping his partner will phone today.
Saturday is my day off from housework and I'll probably just bake a cake and some biscuits for my DGS and then put my feet up for awhile.I have a good book to read and the weather isn't looking very bright so I shall stay at home in the warm with a pot of coffee.
Tonight's dinner will be bacon wrapped chilli chicken breast that I dug out of the freezer with veg. Strawberry yogurt for pud, or maybe some pears that are ripening in the conservatory.

Hope everyone has a good day and gets lots of relaxation time
Cheers chums
JackieO xx
• Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

A better morning than yesterday, so OH tells me, he is up, I am still in bed.

Had to put someone straight re our quiltin group yesterday........so a bit of a fraught afternoon and evening, however it's all sorted out now. I have appointed someone to take over the money and a stand in who will take over the office bit of the group, leaving me free to teach. It would appear that my little trip to hospital has made the powers that be realise that each group needs a 'leader' to shadow the group leader and cope if for any reason the group leader is ill or unavailable. That takes quite a bit off my shoulders.

No plans for the day, I do have some things to get on with sewing wise, so once the fire is laid and the supper sorted I may well shut myself in my sewing room.
