Im going for first direct first. As far as I understand, I don't need any DDs for this one, although I have 2 which will get switched. I just need to apply for the account, be accepted, use the switching service, and then pay in £1000 (all within 3 months). Im not missing anything?

Im just looking at the T&Cs and this concerns me:

"We set up all the payment mandates on your new first direct 1st Account, inform all your Direct Debit originators that you've moved banks and give them your new details, including your employer so your salary can be redirected."

I don't want them to redirect my salary as I'm keeping my main current account with Santander. Can I prevent this bit from happening?

you switching from Santander #2 to 1st Direct?

as you are switching a donor account at Santander your existing main account will remain along with the salary and Child Maintenance payments, you havent asked this account to close.

To get all all the incentives currently on offer you need to use the ATTS and close the account you are switching from.

All explained in each banks T&C's.

I can confirm that from Monday 19th Halifax is offering £100 to switch and entry into the prize draw to win 50k (draw is in January 2016) again you are only eligible f you have not had an incentive since Jan 2012, and you can switch as an existing customer into an existing account,

They just want you to have regular credits going into the account. I switched to FD with an account that had 2 DD but no credits and I said I would pay in 1k each month, and I now just put £1 in the savings account and I only fund the account with £300 for the regular saver.

Many of the banks require your regular income this doesnt have to be salary, if you are retired you can use pension for example.

Just switch one of the donor santander account, pay in 1k as part of the switch then, open the savings account and move the money back out, or put the incentive payment into the saving, whoever you want to do but you can leave your main account with santander.
